The schedule for the 15th season of the Big Bash League (BBL-15) has been released, with the Sydney Sixers taking on the Perth Scorchers in the opening match on December 14, 2025, at the new Optus Stadium in Perth. The defending champions, Hobart Hurricanes, will play against Sydney Thunder on December 16. A two-week window created by the fifth Ashes Test concluding on January 8 could allow Australian Test players to participate in the BBL-15. This is a significant shift from prior seasons when the January and February Test series often prevented top players from playing in the BBL. Alistair Dobson, Head of BBL Leagues, expressed optimism about the upcoming season and highlighted the benefit of a clear run of matches from mid-December to late January. The schedule is designed to ensure every team has a home game in the final week of the regular season, increasing the likelihood of Test stars playing for their teams in the finals. Players like Nathan Lyon (Melbourne Renegades) might make their BBL debuts. However, participation of players like Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, and Cameron Green is uncertain as they are uncontracted for the 2025–26 BBL season.
