Umpire Pay Scale Overhauled and New Grading System Approved by BCCI

One of the headline resolutions at the BCCI’s 95th AGM was the overhaul of the remuneration structure for domestic umpires and match referees. The assembly voted unanimously to adopt a new tiered grading system that aligns pay with experience, performance metrics and match importance.

The revised framework is expected to professionalise officiating standards and provide clearer career pathways for aspiring umpires across India.

Alongside the umpire reforms, the board ratified the audited financial statements for FY 2025‑26 and accepted the FY 2026‑27 budget, paving the way for continued fiscal stability.

The meeting also set the stage for long‑term celebrations: IPL’s 20th edition will be marked in 2027 with elaborate events, and BCCI’s centenary celebrations will run from December 2027 through 2028, showcasing a century of cricketing heritage.

Present at the meeting were President Mithun Manhas, Vice‑President Rajiv Shukla, Secretary Devjit Saikia, and senior administrators such as Sourav Ganguli and Venkatesh Prasad.
