Bevan Jacobs Added to NZ Squad as Ravindra Recovers from Shoulder Injury

New Zealand Cricket confirmed the inclusion of Bevan Jacobs in the squad for the five‑match T20 series against India after all‑rounder Rachin Ravindra was ruled out with a shoulder injury. The injury, sustained during a media shoot, is expected to keep Ravindra sidelined for at least six weeks.

Jacobs, a 24‑year‑old middle‑order batsman, has accumulated 183 runs in 11 T20 internationals, highlighted by a half‑century and a Man of the Match award against Bangladesh on 2 May 2026 where he posted 62* off 31 balls.

Coach Rob Walter praised Jacobs’ temperament and said the youngster will have a valuable opportunity to prove himself against a high‑quality Indian attack. Walter also reiterated confidence that Ravindra will be fit for the ODI series that follows.

Ravindra’s career T20 record includes 759 runs at an average of 22.39, four fifties, and 26 wickets, underscoring his dual role in the side. His loss is felt deeply, but the team hopes Jacobs can add stability to the batting order.

The series will kick off on 22 October and proceed on 24, 27, 30 October and 1 November. New Zealand will field captain Michael Southee and a blend of seasoned campaigners and emerging talent, aiming to contest the series on home turf.
