UAE declined to host PSL: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has received a major setback amid the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has refused to host the remaining matches of Pakistan Super League (PSL) in its country, causing Pakistan to face insults internationally.
PCB issued a statement on Friday (May 9) in the morning that the remaining matches of PSL would be played in UAE. However, it is now clear that UAE has turned down this proposal from Pakistan. Earlier, after the attack at Rawalpindi’s Cricket Stadium on 8 May, it was decided that the remaining matches of PSL would be shifted to UAE. The match between Karachi Kings and Peshawar Jalmi in Rawalpindi was postponed due to security reasons, after which PCB contacted UAE for hosting. But UAE has turned down this proposal which has become a great embarrassment for Pakistan.
This development is also believed to be a major international shock for Pakistan, because UAE has been an important partner of Pakistan’s cricket events till now.
Why was PSL being shifted in UAE?
A few matches were held so far at the PSL being held in Pakistan, but after the attack in Rawalpindi, the Pakistan Cricket Board decided to shift the remaining matches to UAE. Eight PSL matches were to be held in Pakistan itself, but due to the attack on Rawalpindi Stadium, security concern forced it to take important steps.
