Record break: Bumrah tops India’s ODI wicket list in England

In a tightly contested opening ODI against England at Southampton, Jasprit Bumrah etched his name into the record books. By claiming the wicket of England captain Harry Brook, Bumrah secured his 150th ODI wicket – a milestone that makes him the tenth Indian fast bowler to do so and the 16th Indian bowler overall.

The dismissal came on the 4,605th ball of his One Day International career, positioning Bumrah as the third‑quickest Indian pacer in terms of balls needed to reach 150 wickets, after Mohammad Shami and Kuldeep Yadav.

With 31 wickets taken on English soil, Bumrah now leads all Indian fast bowlers in ODI wickets in England, overtaking Ravindra Jadeja who stands at 30.

India’s ODI wicket‑taking landscape has historically been spin‑dominated, highlighted by Anil Kumble’s 334 dismissals. Among pace bowlers, Javagal Srinath’s 315 remain the benchmark, but Bumrah’s recent achievement brings him within striking distance of that record.
