Legal Ruling Upholds Selection, Leaves Rider Anush Agarwal Disappointed

The Delhi High Court has refused to interfere in the Equestrian Federation of India’s decision to exclude dressage rider Anush Agarwal from the 2026 Asian Games roster. Agarwal, a 2022 Asian Games gold and bronze medalist, voiced her anguish on Instagram, saying the decision ended her hopes of representing India again. She argued that the selection criteria were unclear and that she was never given a fair chance to compete. After filing complaints with the federation, the Indian Olympic Association and the Sports Ministry, she received no substantive reply. The court’s statement reiterated that the selection adhered to the prescribed guidelines, prompting Agarwal to demand greater transparency and accountability in future athlete selections.
