The Delhi & District Cricket Association has taken decisive steps to modernize its operations. In its recent Apex Council meeting, the body voted to discontinue the decades-old complimentary pass system. Officials explained that while franchises absorb losses from free tickets during IPL events, state associations like DDCA could earn substantial revenue by selling these passes, particularly for marquee bilateral fixtures. Another headline decision involves gender parity. The women's domestic league will now offer the same prize money as its male counterpart. This move, proposed by DDCA president Rohan Jaitley, signals a broader push for equality across all levels of the game. The association is also focusing on player welfare. Matches will be scheduled at central Delhi venues to reduce travel time for young cricketers. DDCA intends to participate aggressively in auctions for long-term leases of suitable grounds. Infrastructure upgrades, including better seating, canopies for shade, and modernized dressing rooms, are planned to improve spectator comfort during Delhi's harsh summers. Match officials will benefit from a 30% increase in fees starting this season, followed by yearly increments. A biometric entry system is being evaluated to streamline stadium access for members. With these reforms, DDCA aims to build a more sustainable and inclusive cricket environment.
