Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente confirmed on Monday that the 26-man squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has already been finalised. The announcement comes immediately after the conclusion of the latest La Liga round. In an interview, de la Fuente explained that both personnel and tactical approach have been decided well in advance of the tournament. He acknowledged that the squad could feature players making their senior international debuts. The coach also indicated that three goalkeepers will travel, raising the prospect that either Joan García or Álex Remiro will be left at home. De la Fuente remains hopeful that injured stars including Nico Williams, Lamine Yamal and Mikel Merino will be fit enough for selection. He recalled how Dani Olmo overcame an early injury at Euro 2024 to finish as one of the tournament’s top scorers. The coach praised the strong bond within the group, which he described as a true “family”.
