The three-match T20 series between Australia and South Africa concluded, with Australia winning the series 2-1. However, South African batsman Dewald Brevis received considerable praise for his performance, emerging as the highest run-scorer in the series. Despite his aggressive batting, Brevis couldn’t surpass a record held by Indian batsman Virat Kohli. Brevis scored 180 runs in the series, falling 20 runs short of Kohli’s total.
In a 2016 series in Australia, Virat Kohli scored 199 runs in a three-match T20 series. Kohli’s performance included an unbeaten 90 in the first match, which India won by 37 runs. He followed this up with an unbeaten 59 in the second T20, another victory for India. In the final match in Sydney, Kohli scored 50 runs, completing a 3-0 series sweep for India.
Brevis, in the 2025 series against Australia, scored 180 runs. He scored only two runs in the first match, but showcased a century in the second T20, hitting an unbeaten 125. His form continued in the third T20 with a valuable knock of 53 runs. However, he couldn’t secure a win for his team, and finished just 20 runs shy of Kohli’s record.
Despite not surpassing Kohli’s record, Dewald Brevis holds the distinction of hitting the most sixes in T20 cricket in 2025, with 79 sixes. Mitchell Owen of Australia and Sahibzada Farhan of Pakistan share the second position with 77 sixes each.
