Dhanashree Verma, the ex-wife of Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal, disclosed intimate details about their divorce proceedings during a recent interview on the Human of Bombay podcast. Verma admitted to experiencing a highly emotional moment in court, describing herself as “howling” despite feeling mentally prepared for the verdict. She also commented on Chahal’s attire, specifically the “Be your own sugar daddy” T-shirt he wore on the day of the divorce. Reflecting on the day the divorce was finalized, Verma recalled the intensity of her emotions. She stated that even though she had steeled herself for the outcome, she became overwhelmed and began to cry uncontrollably in front of everyone. She mentioned that in the midst of her emotional distress, Chahal was the first to depart. Verma also discussed how people were quick to assign blame. Additionally, she reflected on the efforts required to maintain a marriage, expressing her commitment to her partner. She emphasized that one’s behavior on such a significant day reflects their character. Chahal and Verma married in Gurugram in 2020, surrounded by loved ones. However, by 2023, their relationship began to deteriorate. Their social media activity became less frequent, marked by cryptic posts. The couple jointly filed for divorce in February 2025, ultimately leading to their separation.
