Dileep Trophy 2024: North Zone announces lineup with Ayush Badoni as vice‑captain

Bangalore’s BCCI Centre of Excellence will host the Dileep Trophy from 23 August to 10 September. The North Zone panel released a 15‑player squad, confirming Ayush Badoni of Delhi as vice‑captain alongside captain Kanhaiya Vadhawan.

The batting unit pairs Vadhawan with Kamran Iqbal, whose unbeaten 160 in the Ranji final propelled Jammu & Kashmir to its maiden championship. Abdul Samad adds firepower, while Delhi’s Ayush Doseja and Sanat Sangwan, each scoring close to a thousand runs in the previous Ranji season, provide stability.

Former Under‑19 World Cup champion Yash Dhull is also selected, bringing valuable leadership experience. The spin roster comprises Badoni, left‑arm spinner Nishant Sindhu, off‑spinner Nikhil Kaushik, left‑arm orthodox Abid Mushtaq and services’ Arjun Sharma. Fast bowling depth is supplied by Arshdeep Singh, Anshul Kamboj, and Jammu & Kashmir pacers Yudhveer Singh and Sunil Kumar.

North Zone will kick off the tournament against West Zone, captained by Rituraj Gaikwad, on 23 August at COE Ground 1. The victor will meet South Zone, led by Tilak Verma, in the semi‑finals.
