Novak Djokovic has advanced to the Hellenic Championship final in Athens, overcoming a streak of semi-final losses with a convincing 6-3, 6-4 victory against Yannick Hanfmann. This win propels the Serbian star into his first final since the Geneva Open in May and brings him closer to his 101st ATP tour title.
Djokovic, a 38-year-old legend of the sport, demonstrated his enduring class on the indoor hard court, showcasing sharp serves and dynamic movement. Despite an early service break from his German opponent, Djokovic quickly regained control, breaking back and dominating the remainder of the match. The encounter lasted just 79 minutes, highlighting Djokovic’s focused performance.
“I believe this was the best tennis I’ve played throughout the tournament, and it arrived at a crucial moment,” Djokovic stated post-match. “Hanfmann presents a significant challenge with his powerful serve and aggressive game, so maintaining focus was essential. I recovered from a break down in the second set, and I’m thrilled to be in the final.”
This significant semi-final win marks a return to form for Djokovic, who also secured a quarter-final victory earlier in the week. He will now compete for his 101st ATP trophy against either Lorenzo Musetti or Sebastian Korda. This success provides valuable momentum as Djokovic prepares for upcoming major tournaments, including the ATP Finals.
