The Indian government has passed the Online Gaming Bill in Parliament. Following its passage in the Lok Sabha on August 20th, the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill 2025 was swiftly approved by the Rajya Sabha on August 21st. This legislation aims to restrict online money-making games. With the bill becoming law, several fantasy gaming platforms in the country, most notably Dream11, are at risk of closure. Questions arise regarding the potential impact on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which had a three-year deal with Dream11.
