DY Patil Stadium Unavailable for Women’s Champions Trophy After Renovation Delays

Ongoing repair work at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai has forced the venue out of the lineup for the Women’s Champions Trophy 2027. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has instead confirmed that the six‑team T20 competition will be staged at the Brebourn Stadium in Mumbai and the Vadoora International Cricket Stadium.

The private stadium, which previously hosted the Women’s ODI World Cup final in 2025 and regularly features in the Women’s Premier League, is currently being upgraded. Major work on the stands includes the construction of new washrooms on the ground level, a requirement driven by increased demand for multi‑sport use.

An insider revealed that the refurbishment will require six to eight months to complete, and that safety considerations prevent any matches from being played while the work is in progress. Consequently, the ICC removed DY Patil from the venue pool for the Champions Trophy.

The timing coincides with a crowded Indian cricket schedule that includes the Border‑Gavaskar Trophy series against Australia and several domestic tournaments, limiting the options for shifting matches elsewhere.
