Fast‑bowler Doggett Targets Spot in Australian Squad for 2025 India Tests

Brendan Doggett, one of Australia's up‑and‑coming quicks, has outlined a clear roadmap to a Test debut during the upcoming Border‑Gavaskar series in India.

Having recovered from a hamstring strain suffered in February, Doggett returned to competitive cricket this season and featured in two home Tests last year. He is now part of the Australia A contingent that will contest a four‑day series against India A in Chennai.

"The Border‑Gavaskar series is a massive event for any Australian player," Doggett said, speaking at a Big Bash League function. "I want to be part of that squad, and performing well against India A is the first step."

He highlighted his current fitness levels, saying that he feels strong and is able to bowl with his usual rhythm. "I’ve been putting in the work, running in the heat, and the body is responding well. I’m ready for the challenge."

Doggett also recognised the depth of talent in Australia's pace department. With Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Scott Boland all vying for spots, he emphasized the need for patience and consistent displays. "When the opportunity comes, I will be prepared to deliver. The rest will fall into place," he concluded.
