Global Cricket Icons Rally for Imran Khan’s Health and Release
International cricket stars have added their voices to the growing chorus demanding better treatment for Imran Khan. Australian great Greg Chapple and current Test captain Pat Cummins have publicly expressed concern over the conditions faced by the former Pakistani prime minister.
A petition addressed to Pakistan’s prime minister, signed by Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev and Dilip Vengsarkar, calls for unrestricted weekly family visits, a comprehensive health exam by an independent medical board, and swift implementation of any prescribed care.
Javed Mianuddin, a former Pakistani pacer, reinforced these calls on the "Narratives" podcast, recalling his own friendship with Khan and underscoring the global respect the former leader commands. He argued that compassion should trump politics when a man’s health and legacy are at stake.
The combined pressure from former teammates, cricketing legends, and current captains highlights the international dimension of the issue, pushing Pakistani authorities to reconsider Khan’s detention conditions.
