Gorakhpur's New International Stadium: A Milestone for Sports in Eastern UP

The landscape of sports in Eastern Uttar Pradesh is set for a massive transformation with the upcoming Gorakhpur International Cricket Stadium. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will officially initiate the project on Saturday. The stadium, built on 46 acres with an investment of Rs 393 crore, will boast a capacity of 30,000 fans. Key technical features include four high-mast floodlights for day-night matches and a ground-plus-two-floor structure. Beyond cricket, the stadium is designed as a multipurpose venue for cultural events and other sports. Strategically located 24 km from Gorakhpur Airport and 20 km from the railway station, it offers seamless connectivity via the Gorakhpur-Varanasi four-lane highway. Corporate giants Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum, and Hindustan Petroleum are contributing Rs 100 crore toward the project via CSR funds.
