Government's Fit India campaign gains momentum with 88th Sunday Cycling drive
The latest Fit India Sunday on Bicycle event marked its 88th edition, underscoring the Indian government's commitment to a healthier populace. Organized under the leadership of Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, the drive unfolded in more than 25,000 sites across the country, drawing participants of every age bracket.
Key speakers highlighted the synergy between fitness and environmental stewardship. Wrestler and actor Sangram Singh applauded the Prime Minister’s vision, noting that cycling can turn ordinary citizens into champions of health. Actress Madhurima Tuli, a repeat attendee, pointed out the growing enthusiasm among middle‑aged women in Maharashtra, demonstrating the campaign's broad demographic appeal.
Head Coach Gajendra Gahlot emphasized that the Fit India initiative should be sustained as a nationwide movement, urging youth and citizens alike to spread awareness and foster a culture of regular physical activity.
