Government Backing Boosts Indian Para‑Archers Ahead of Paris Paralympics

Indian para‑archers are receiving a continuous stream of support from the central government. Since inclusion in the Target Olympic Podium Scheme, athletes have benefitted from regular cash allowances, equipment grants, and upgraded training centres.

Sports Authority of India (SAI) facilities in Sonipat have already been modernised, and a new centre is under development in Gandhinagar. Harvinder Singh said these improvements are evident at the grassroots level and have contributed to a surge in medal counts.

He noted that after the team's debut in 2017, Indian archers now regularly win medals in the majority of the four major tournaments they attend each year. Ongoing funding is expected to sustain this upward trajectory toward the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.
