The Australian cricket team has suffered a setback with the news that Grace Harris will miss the upcoming Women’s ODI World Cup. Harris sustained an injury during the third ODI match against India and has not recovered sufficiently to participate in the tournament. Heather Graham has been selected to replace Harris in the Australian squad. Graham has limited experience, having played only one ODI match previously.
Harris, an all-rounder, contributes with both bat and ball. Her ODI record includes 12 matches where she scored 16 runs and took 12 wickets. Her sole appearance in the recent series in India saw her take one wicket. The injury occurred during this match, sidelining her from the World Cup. Graham, also an all-rounder, made her ODI debut for Australia in 2019 and has been called up for the World Cup. In her debut against Sri Lanka, she scored 4 runs and took 1 wicket.
The Women’s ODI World Cup begins on September 30th, with the opening match between India and Sri Lanka. Australia’s campaign starts on October 1st against New Zealand. Australia recently won a 3-match ODI series against India 2-1.
