The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, is just fifty days away. A trophy launch event was held in Mumbai, attended by ICC Chief Jay Shah, Indian team captain Harmanpreet Kaur, and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana. Veteran cricketer Yuvraj Singh, who led India to victory in the 2011 ODI World Cup, also graced the occasion to encourage the women cricketers. During the event, Harmanpreet Kaur shared a heartfelt anecdote about Yuvraj Singh, describing a moment that still gives her goosebumps. She emphasized her and her team’s readiness to end the wait for the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup title, highlighting the team’s dedication and the special significance of World Cups. Reflecting on her innings of 171 runs against Australia in the 2017 World Cup, Harmanpreet recalled the overwhelming welcome she received upon her return to India, a memory that continues to move her. She also highlighted the importance of the upcoming home ODI series against Australia, starting September 14th, as a crucial test of India’s preparations, noting the team’s recent victories against England in both ODI and T20 series.
