Haryana Police have apprehended YouTuber Wasim Akram from Palwal, based on accusations of espionage on behalf of Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the Pakistan High Commission. Akram, a resident of Kot village in Palwal district, operated a YouTube channel featuring videos about the history of Mewat. He was taken into custody on Wednesday. Investigations revealed that Akram had been communicating with Pakistani agents for approximately three years and allegedly supplied them with SIM cards. Authorities have recovered incriminating WhatsApp messages from his phone, including deleted ones, which the cyber cell is currently attempting to retrieve. The lead regarding Akram was provided by Taufiq, another individual previously arrested by Palwal police on similar charges. Akram reportedly connected with a Pakistani agent named Danish in 2021 during a visa application process for Islamabad. While his family has denied any travel to Pakistan, his interrogation has unveiled evidence of cross-border connections.
