The first Test between India and West Indies is underway in Ahmedabad. Following the toss, both teams have revealed their playing elevens. India has opted for a three-spinner strategy in this match. Notably, Kuldeep Yadav is making a comeback to the Test team. India is commencing its home season with this Test series against West Indies, marking their first Test at home this year.
West Indies captain, Roston Chase, won the toss and chose to bat first, meaning the Indian team will be bowling first.
Kuldeep Yadav is joined by Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar as the other spinners in the team. This marks Kuldeep Yadav’s return to the Indian Test team after 347 days. His last Test appearance was 11 months ago, from October 16th to 20th last year, against New Zealand in Bengaluru.
In addition to the three spinners, the Indian playing eleven includes two specialist pacers, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj. There’s also a pace-bowling all-rounder, Nitish Reddy. The opening duties will be handled by Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul.
