Gold rush continues as India amasses 33 medals at Commonwealth Games

Glasgow – The Commonwealth Games 2026 closed its Saturday session with India firmly entrenched in the top five of the overall medal table. A total of 33 medals – comprising 10 gold, 15 silver and 8 bronze – placed the country at the fifth position.

Boxing contributed four gold medals and a silver, thanks to the heroic performances of Preeti Pawar, Jasmine Lumboria, Sakshi Yadav and Pria Ghanghas. Athletics added three golds, seven silvers and five bronzes, while judo delivered two golds, a silver and a bronze.

Weightlifting proved fruitful with a gold, six silvers and a bronze, and para‑powerlifting rounded off the haul with a bronze medal. The diverse spread across sports highlights India’s expanding competence on the Commonwealth stage and sets a positive tone for the upcoming 2028 edition.
