India Targets Robust Coaching System and Doping‑Free Sports Ecosystem

At the National Sports Federation Conclave 2026, Union Sports Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandavia highlighted India’s strategic focus on building a resilient coaching ecosystem and eliminating doping from all levels of sport.

The minister underscored the urgency of complying with the National Sports Governance Act, 2025, and stressed that transparent, camera‑recorded selection trials must become the norm. "Athletes deserve a fair chance, and the process must be observed by independent officials," he said.

Mandavia announced a comprehensive anti‑doping roadmap that targets the entire supply chain – from manufacturers to distributors to end‑users. He emphasized that only a systematic, chain‑wide approach can effectively remove performance‑enhancing drugs from Indian sport.

Regarding coaching, the minister pledged to nurture a cadre of elite Indian coaches. He called for structured programmes that provide international exposure, advanced training, and career incentives, arguing that home‑grown expertise reduces reliance on foreign specialists and raises the overall standard of athlete preparation.

The conclave also reviewed India's readiness for the Asian Games 2026, Los Angeles Olympics 2028, and Commonwealth Games 2030, with NSF presenting detailed action plans. The gathering featured senior officials from the Ministry, the Sports Authority of India and state sport ministers, all aligning on the vision of a transparent, athlete‑centric, and doping‑free sports environment.
