India’s Historic Commonwealth Judo Medal Haul Highlighted by Tulika Mann

The Commonwealth Games 2026 showcased India’s strongest judo performance to date, with the nation returning home carrying two gold medals and a silver. The silver medalist, Tulika Mann, played a pivotal role in cementing India’s reputation on the world judo circuit.

Tulika, born in Delhi in 1998, faced early life hardships after the loss of her father. Raised by a working mother, she found solace in a judo class she joined in the fourth grade. The sport’s structure appealed to her, and she quickly progressed through the ranks.

Her ascent began with notable performances at the state level, leading to a national silver medal that signaled her potential. Tulika’s international breakthrough came with bronze medals at the Asian Junior Championships (Bishkek 2017, Beirut 2018) and a gold at the 2019 South Asian Games in Kathmandu. The 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham added a silver to her tally.

While she did not feature in the 2026 Games lineup, Tulika’s achievements remain a testament to the dedication required to excel in judo, inspiring a new generation of Indian athletes.
