India secured a decisive six-wicket victory over Pakistan in the Super Fours stage of the Asia Cup 2025, held in Dubai. Chasing a target of 172 runs, the Indian team achieved victory with seven balls remaining, fueled by a brilliant 74-run innings from Abhishek Sharma and a solid 47 from Shubman Gill. The match saw a strong start with an opening partnership between Sharma and Gill. Sharma immediately made his mark, hitting Shaheen Afridi’s first ball for a six. Despite Pakistan’s efforts to regain control with timely wickets after the drinks break, India maintained momentum. Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav expressed his satisfaction with the win, praising Gill and Sharma’s performances and the team’s overall character. He highlighted the team’s composure and the impact of players like Dube, while also acknowledging the fielding coach’s feedback. The victory propelled India to the top of the Super 4 table, surpassing Bangladesh in net run rate. Bangladesh had also secured two points after their win against Sri Lanka, who along with Pakistan, are yet to register a win.
