India’s Emergency Accommodation Plan for Nagoya Asian Games Athletes

Facing potential housing shortages ahead of the 2026 Asian Games, India has drawn up an emergency accommodation plan for its delegation in Nagoya. The plan hinges on a three‑stage response. First, two officials will be posted at Chubu International Airport to coordinate arrivals. Second, a trio of staff members will run an Athlete Welcome Centre, offering immediate lodging assistance and other logistical support. Third, a database of about 2,000 Indian locals in Nagoya has been created; their homes could be utilized as temporary quarters if standard venues become untenable. This coordinated effort, involving the Ministry of Sports, the Sports Authority of India, the Chef de Mission and the expatriate community, seeks to prevent any disruption to athletes’ training and competition schedules.
