The second test between India and Sri Lanka in Colombo concluded in a draw on August 27, allowing India to retain a 1‑0 series advantage. After posting 503/9 in the first innings, India gave Sri Lanka a modest lead of 290 runs, forcing the hosts into a follow‑on. Captain Shubman Gill remarked, “Truthfully, there was no alternative we could have pursued. We fielded for three full days, covering every over, and did everything we could. Sri Lanka’s batting displayed skill and a little luck.” He defended the follow‑on call, emphasizing that such decisions are made in real time and are hard to critique later.

Even though India did not secure a 2‑0 sweep, the team showcased several strengths. Devdatt Padikkal, Manish Sutthar, KL Rahul, and the fast bowlers all contributed significantly.
