Skeet Scores and Shooting Medal Sweep: India’s Performance Reviewed

At the Nagoya edition of the Asian Games, India’s shooters delivered a comprehensive set of results that highlighted both triumphs and near‑misses. The men’s skeet squad—Bhavtegh Singh Gill, Anantjit Singh Naruka and Meraj Ahmad Khan—finished with 346 points, earning the bronze medal behind Qatar (353) and Kuwait (348).

The women’s skeet team had already secured a bronze earlier, with Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Rajya Dhillon and Maheshwari Chauhan reaching 331 points. Their collective effort added depth to India’s skeet campaign.

Shooting remained the country’s most productive sport. In the 10 m air rifle team event, the trio of Ilavenil Valarivan, Sonam Muskar and Vidarsha Vinod captured silver, and Ilavenil later added an individual silver. A second silver came from the men’s 10 m air rifle team comprising Parth Mane, Himanshu Dhillon and Rudraksh Patel; Himanshu subsequently won an individual silver while Rudraksh took bronze.

Conversely, the women’s 10 m air pistol saw Manu Bakar finish fifth with a score of 181.1, falling short of a medal. The same athlete, together with Isha and Suruchi, placed fourth in the team event, missing the podium by a narrow margin.

Overall, India left Nagoya with a strong shooting medal tally, the men’s skeet bronze serving as a key addition to a series of medals across rifle and pistol categories.
