Injury Forces Liton Das Out; Parvez Hassan Steps In for Bangladesh ODIs

Bangladesh’s cricket squad has been reshaped after left‑handed opener Liton Das was declared unfit for the ongoing One Day International series against Zimbabwe. The hamstring injury that Das suffered could not be rehabilitated in time, and physiotherapist Baijedul Islam Khan confirmed that he will miss the remainder of the tour.

Parvez Hassan has been added to the roster as a direct replacement, bringing additional left‑handed depth to the batting line‑up.

In the first ODI, Zimbabwe’s innings ended at 141 all out. Numan Nyamhrui contributed the most for Bangladesh with 33 runs, while Richard Ngwarwa added 27. The Bangladeshi bowlers shone, especially Nahid Rana, who claimed six wickets for just 21 runs in ten overs, and Taskeen Ahmed with two wickets for 32 runs.

Bangladesh’s pursuit of the 142‑run target stalled at 116, with eight of the eleven batsmen failing to reach double figures. Nurul Hasan’s 31 off 44 balls was the highest score, followed by Tawhid Hruday’s 25.

Zimbabwe’s Richard Ngwarwa (3/31), Brad Evans (3/34) and Blessing Mujarabani (2/24) delivered disciplined bowling performances. The next two ODIs are slated for July 9 and July 11.
