Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan voiced his disapproval of Pakistani players Haris Rauf and Sahibzada Farhan’s on-field actions. India secured victories against Pakistan twice in the Asia Cup, initially in the group stage and later in the Super Fours, yet this appeared to be overshadowed by the Pakistani players’ conduct. Pathan suggested that, instead of focusing on improving their cricket, some Pakistani players seemed more interested in causing disruption on the field.
The match saw several heated moments, including exchanges between Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Haris Rauf. Sahibzada Farhan sparked controversy with a gesture that mimicked shooting a gun with his bat, while Haris Rauf was observed making gestures that resembled a falling plane and a 6-0 scoreline.
Pathan, speaking on his YouTube channel, responded sharply, highlighting that Indian cricketers typically demonstrate their performance with their bats and maintain a composed demeanor. He emphasized that while Indian cricketers remain composed, they will respond if provoked, regardless of the opponent’s nationality. He stated that they will answer with their play and actions.
Pathan further commented that India doesn’t dwell on Pakistan’s losses, such as their defeat to Zimbabwe in the 2022 World Cup. He clarified that there was no public reaction from India because they do not focus on whether the team wins or loses. He noted that while they analyze their opponents, they do not dwell on their failures.
He added that if any team provokes them, they won’t hold back. He pointed out Farhan’s celebration, given the ongoing tensions between the two countries. Pathan expressed disappointment in Haris Rauf’s behavior, noting that he had a different impression of him based on previous interactions. Pathan concluded that the actions of both players reflect their upbringing and background.
