As speculation mounts regarding a potential trade involving Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson, former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has identified Yashasvi Jaiswal as the ideal successor. Kaif believes the young Indian opener possesses the necessary temperament, skill set, and international exposure to guide the franchise forward in the Indian Premier League (IPL). “Wherever he goes around the world, he’s scoring runs,” Kaif stated, emphasizing Jaiswal’s global impact. He highlighted Jaiswal’s consistent performances across all formats, noting his attacking flair and maturity for his age. Despite facing stiff competition for national team spots, Jaiswal’s batting prowess has been undeniable. Kaif also acknowledged Riyan Parag’s impressive IPL 2024 season, where he amassed over 500 runs, suggesting Parag could be a future leader but would require time to develop his captaincy skills. Sanju Samson has been instrumental in the Royals’ success, leading them to the IPL 2022 final and consistent playoff appearances. However, if a trade for Samson materializes, with franchises like Chennai Super Kings reportedly interested, Rajasthan will need to look to emerging stars like Jaiswal or Parag to fill the captaincy void.
