Madhwal Credits Uttarakhand Cricket Association for Growing Infrastructure and Opportunities

In a detailed interview, fast‑bowler Akash Madhwal praised the Uttarakhand Cricket Association (UCA) for its role in expanding both the cricketing infrastructure and the number of tournaments available to state players. He explained that, just a few years ago, cricket in Uttarakhand was restricted to a few grounds and limited match practice.

Today, Madhwal said, the scenario has shifted dramatically. The Dehradun T20 League, now in its third edition, is organized on a highly professional level, a development he attributes directly to the UCA’s commitment to providing more playing opportunities.

He highlighted that the growing number of tournaments equips young cricketers with the experience needed to compete for spots in larger competitions like the Indian Premier League or even the national team. “The more matches we get, the better we understand the demands of high‑pressure cricket,” he remarked.

Madhwal also underscored the upcoming Uttarakhand Premier League (UPL) as a milestone that will bring additional visibility to local talent. Live broadcasts and heightened media coverage, he believes, will motivate both senior players and newcomers to strive for excellence.

Finally, the bowler addressed the challenges posed by Uttarakhand’s climate, noting that early monsoons often truncate the cricket season.
