Manipur Wushu Star Roshibina Devi Secures Silver at Asian Games 2026

In a thrilling finale at the 2026 Asian Games, Roshibina Devi earned a silver medal for India in the women’s 60 kg sanda division. The victory adds to her growing collection of medals, which includes a bronze from the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta‑Palembang and a silver from the 2023 Hangzhou Games. Roshibina was born on 30 December 2000 in Kwasi Phai Likai, Manipur, and grew up as the second child among three siblings. Her fascination with boxing and martial arts set her apart, while her academic record remained top‑ranked throughout school. After initial hesitation from her family over costs, she trained under senior athlete Thoudam Malemangnabi and later under the mentorship of Dr. Sifu Norendro Thokchom and coach Moirangthem Ronald. Her first national success came with a bronze at the Kashmir National Games, and she debuted internationally at the 6th World Junior Championship in 2016. Father Naorem Dhamu, visibly emotional, said the family is proud and willing to back any Olympic aspirations should wushu be included.
