Melbourne Stars Revamp Coaching Staff with Pira and Assistant Andy Christie

Melbourne Stars announced a comprehensive overhaul of their coaching lineup ahead of the next WBBL season. Former Yorkshire all‑rounder Richard Pira has been hired as head coach, bringing his recent experience as Yorkshire Women’s head coach and stint as an assistant with the Sunrise Leads in the women’s Hundred. General Manager James Rosengarten emphasized that Pira’s expertise across both genders will broaden the team’s tactical options. Additionally, the club elevated Andy Christie to assistant coach after he led the Stars to the knockout phase in the previous campaign, a role he will now combine with his commitments to the Victorian women's side in the WNCL. The squad, featuring legends like Meg Lanning, Marizanne Kapp, Amy Jones and Kim Garth, is expected to benefit from the blended knowledge of Pira and Christie as they chase the coveted title.
