Following India’s victory over Pakistan in the 2025 Asia Cup, a significant controversy has erupted. Mohsin Naqvi, the Pakistan Cricket Board chief and Asia Cricket Council Chairman, sparked the issue when India declined to receive the trophy from him. Subsequently, Naqvi allegedly removed the trophy and attempted to disrupt India’s celebration. An ACC meeting was later convened, including BCCI representatives and Naqvi. Despite apologizing to the BCCI, Naqvi remains unwilling to relinquish the trophy and has requested Suryakumar Yadav collect it in Dubai. The BCCI has strongly rebuffed this unusual request, questioning why Yadav would travel to Dubai when Naqvi failed to present the trophy at the initial ceremony. Naqvi is scheduled to depart for Lahore and has insisted on Yadav’s presence in Dubai. The BCCI, in turn, has demanded the immediate return of the trophy, a request Naqvi has disregarded, leading the BCCI to consider lodging an official complaint with the International Cricket Council (ICC). During the meeting, Naqvi initially resisted congratulating India but was eventually compelled to do so by BCCI representative Ashish Shelar.
