Norris to Stay with ‘Papaya’ Squad for At Least Twelve More Years

Lando Norris has solidified his future with McLaren, confirming that he will race for the "Papaya" team until at least the close of the 2030 season, with an option to continue beyond that point. The decision marks a decade‑plus partnership that began when Norris first joined McLaren as a test driver in 2017 and moved to the grid two years later.

Speaking to the media, Norris expressed his excitement about the new deal, saying the team has felt like home since his early days in Formula 1. He highlighted the strong performances of recent seasons and his belief that the collaboration can still achieve many more podiums and victories.

The revised contract replaces an earlier agreement that would have ended after 2027, extending Norris’s stay to a minimum of twelve seasons. McLaren will continue to supply him with its latest MCL39 chassis, the car that earned him the 2025 world championship.

McLaren’s leadership lauded the stability the extension brings, noting that Norris’s contributions were instrumental in securing back‑to‑back constructors’ titles in 2024 and 2025 and the team’s first drivers’ championship in 17 years.
