In the Asia Cup 2025, Pakistani players are again in the spotlight for their behavior. Following a gun celebration by Pakistan’s opening batsman, Sahibzada Farhan, after scoring a fifty against India in the Super-4, and a peculiar gesture by fast bowler Haris Rauf during fielding, another incident occurred during the match against Sri Lanka. A Pakistani player crossed the line by mimicking Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga. Subsequently, Hasaranga publicly mocked Pakistan’s spinner Abrar Ahmed on the field.
Abrar Ahmed had mimicked Wanindu Hasaranga. During the third match between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in the Super-4 of the Asia Cup 2025, Pakistan secured a 5-wicket victory over Sri Lanka. During the match, a moment unfolded that left Pakistan’s spinner, Abrar Ahmed, embarrassed. In the 13th over of Sri Lanka’s innings, Abrar Ahmed clean bowled the experienced all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga. Following this, he began to imitate Hasaranga.
Hasaranga did not react initially, but when the Pakistani players came out to bat, he was eager to retaliate. As soon as he dismissed Sam Ayub, he started mimicking Abrar Ahmed, which visibly embarrassed the Pakistani spinner. The video of this incident quickly went viral on social media.
After the match, Hasaranga and Abrar Ahmed embraced each other, resolving any issues. Abrar Ahmed bowled brilliantly in the match, taking one wicket for just 8 runs in 4 overs, while Hasaranga scored 15 runs off 13 balls and later took two wickets while conceding 27 runs in 4 overs. However, he couldn’t lead his team to victory.
Batting first in the match, Sri Lanka scored 133 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. In response, Pakistan achieved the target, losing 5 wickets in 18 overs.
