Parmar’s swift ippon defeats Indonesia’s Shidki in 69 seconds

Kapil Parmar delivered a lightning‑quick ippon against Indonesia’s Rafli Ahanaf Shidki in the bronze‑medal contest of the men’s J1‑70 kg para‑judo at the 2026 Asian Para Games, ending the match in just 1 minute 9 seconds.

The rapid victory followed a semi‑final defeat at the hands of fellow Indonesian Junedi, which pushed Parmar into the fight for third place. Earlier, he had survived a grueling quarter‑final against Mongolia’s Bat‑Erdin, winning after 4 minutes 53 seconds of technical exchanges.

Parmar’s performance adds a bronze to his growing international medal tally, which already includes a Paris 2024 Paralympic bronze, a Hangzhou Asian Para Games silver, and a Commonwealth gold in 2019. He also holds multiple IBSA Grand Prix titles and seven national gold medals.

Guided by coach Munwar Anzar Ali Siddiqui, Parmar continues to be a leading figure in India’s J1 para‑judo circuit, where athletes with visual impairments compete at the highest level.
