PCB Restricts Use of 'Pakistan' in Private Cricket Leagues Following WCL Controversy

Following a series of events during the World Championship of Legends (WCL), the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has implemented a ban on the use of 'Pakistan' in team names for privately organized cricket leagues. The decision comes after Indian cricketers refused to compete against a team representing Pakistan on two occasions during the WCL. This refusal, stemming from the terror attack in Pahalgam, led to both teams being awarded a point each. The incident highlighted the sensitivity surrounding the use of the nation's name in unsanctioned events and prompted the PCB to take action. The Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Ministry has advised the PCB to prevent similar situations in the future. The PCB's Board of Directors made the decision during a meeting, expressing frustration over the Indian team's repeated withdrawals from matches against the Pakistan Champions.
