Peter Siddle takes charge of NSW bowling staff ahead of 2026‑27 domestic season

Australian ex‑fast bowler Peter Siddle has been named the bowling coach for New South Wales for the 2026‑27 Australian domestic season. He will operate under the direction of head coach Brad Haddin, alongside spin guru Johan Botha, who will handle the leg‑break and off‑spin units.

Speaking to the media, Siddle said he was “delighted to join a progressive outfit and work with such a talented group of pace bowlers before the break.” Haddin emphasised that the recruitment showcases the state’s dedication to securing top‑tier coaching talent that can translate world‑class experience into on‑field success.

The fast‑bowling contingent includes Liam Hatcher, Ryan Headley, all‑rounder Jack Edwards, Sean Abbott and Ben Dwarshuis – all set to reap the benefits of Siddle’s extensive Test and limited‑overs background. On the spin side, Joel Davies, a regular feature in Australia’s one‑day squads, and Tanveer Sangha, part of the A‑team’s white‑ball program, will add variety to the attack.

The season begins with a one‑day cup match against Queensland on 22 September, with the Sheffield Shield campaign kicking off on 8 October against Tasmania.

Siddle’s playing career comprised 67 Tests for Australia (221 wickets), ten ODIs (17 wickets) and a short T20 stint before he stepped away from international duties in 2019. He continues to feature in franchise T20 cricket, amassing 196 wickets from 164 matches, and will retain his role with the Melbourne Stars in the upcoming BBL season.
