Police Probe CCTV Footage After Young Marksman Vanishes in West Bengal
West Bengal’s sporting community was shaken when 15‑year‑old marksman Damayanti Sen disappeared under mysterious circumstances on Thursday. The shooter had been selected for the national team trials and stepped out of her home in Howrah with a mobile phone to shop for domestic supplies.
When she failed to return by evening, her family reached out to relatives, friends, and peers at her shooting academy, but all attempts to locate her proved futile. The case was then handed over to the local police, who immediately began reviewing CCTV recordings from the nearby railway hub.
The footage captured Damayanti walking between platforms four and five at Howrah station – the last known sighting. Investigators are now tracking mobile phone pings and scanning additional camera angles to map her possible route after the station.
Friends, neighbours, and members of the shooting fraternity have joined together in prayer and public appeals, hoping for her safe return. Police continue to broaden the search, combining technological aids with community tips.
