Former Proteas star Shaun Pollock has showered immense praise on the South African Test team following their outstanding performances against India. The squad, led by Temba Bavuma, has demonstrated complete control throughout the two-match series. After securing a significant victory in the first Test, South Africa continued its dominant run in the second match. As day four of the second Test approaches, South Africa holds a commanding 314-run lead, setting the stage to post a challenging target for India. Pollock expressed his admiration for the team’s exceptional play. “I suppose the one thing not making India follow-on is that they’ll be setting India something. If they chase down 450, I would be very surprised at what we’ve seen. It’s all about points for the WTC now. Coming on this tour, if you said South Africa could walk away with 24 points on a tour of India, they would have jumped and bitten your hand off,” he commented. Pollock believes this strong showing against India is a testament to South Africa’s consistent form in the longest format of the game. He further suggested that this momentum could carry them to success in upcoming series, including their tour of Sri Lanka, which would be a significant achievement given past criticisms of their opponents.
