India’s triumphant women’s cricket squad, fresh off their historic ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 victory, was warmly felicitated by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The President lauded the team’s exceptional unity, unwavering determination, and their inspirational impact on young girls across the nation. The momentous occasion celebrated the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team’s stunning win against South Africa in the final, held at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Cricket Stadium.
President Murmu specifically commended the players for their remarkable performance, highlighting their crucial semi-final victory over seven-time champions Australia. She emphasized their composure under pressure and how their emphatic win not only etched their names in sporting history but also reinforced India’s confidence in its athletic prowess. The President noted that the team embodies the diversity of India, with players from varied backgrounds coming together as one unified force: ‘Team — India.’
Gratitude was also extended to the dedicated coaching and support staff, including the head coach and specialized coaches, for their instrumental role in this national triumph. The team had previously met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a significant INR 51 crore cash reward for their monumental achievement.
