The Punjab Kings are planning significant changes to their roster ahead of the IPL 2026 auction despite a successful IPL 2025 season where they reached the final. Led by Shreyas Iyer, the team topped the league table. The franchise is reportedly looking to release key players to rebalance the squad for future seasons.
While the Indian core, including players like Prabhsimran Singh and Nehal Wadhera, performed well, overseas players like Marcus Stoinis and Yuzvendra Chahal had inconsistent performances. Stoinis failed to live up to expectations, struggling with both bat and ball. Chahal showed flashes of brilliance but lacked consistency, compounded by injury concerns. Releasing these players would free up a substantial amount of money for the team, which could be used to strengthen other areas and improve team balance, focusing on smart recruitment and maximizing the impact of overseas picks.
