Rahane Shares Emotional Video Explaining Decision to Quit International Play

Delhi, July 30 – Ajinkya Rahane posted a moving video on Instagram to announce that he is retiring from international cricket. In the clip, Rahane spoke about the inevitability of endings, saying, “When the right time comes, you must respect it and move ahead.” He reflected on his years of service, emphasizing that timing has always been his cricketing compass.

The former India skipper recounted his rise from Dombivli, Thane, to wearing the blue jersey, and thanked the BCCI, the Mumbai Cricket Association, each IPL franchise he represented, his family, and his wife Radha for their constant encouragement.

Rahane leaves behind a resume of 85 Tests (5,077 runs, 38 average, 12 centuries, 26 half‑centuries), 90 ODIs (2,962 runs, 35 average, 3 centuries), and 20 T20Is (375 runs, 113 strike‑rate). His IPL stint spanned 212 matches for six different teams, marking a prolific domestic and overseas career.
