Former Medalists Rashibina and Rising Star Arian Reach Last Eight

In a striking performance at the 2026 Asian Games, India’s wushu representatives Arian and Rashibina Devi each secured a win on Monday, advancing to the quarter‑final stage. Arian overcame Afghanistan’s Safi Shahzada in straight sets (2‑0) in the men’s 56 kg pre‑quarterfinal round. Meanwhile, Rashibina edged Bangladesh’s Shika Khatun on points in the women’s 60 kg 1/8 final, guaranteeing her a spot among the competition’s final eight.

The pair now look ahead to Tuesday’s quarter‑finals, where a victory would lock in a medal and a place in the semis. Rashibina, a seasoned Asian Games competitor, added to her collection of a 2023 Hangzhou silver and a 2018 Jakarta bronze, alongside a South Asian Games gold in 2019 and a 2016 World Junior bronze.

Other Indian wushu athletes posted notable efforts. Neeman Wangsu finished 15th in the women’s changquan final. Sunil Singh Mayanglambam posted a total of 9.683 points in the men’s changquan final, falling just 0.040 points short of a bronze despite a perfect quality‑of‑movement score (5.00) and a degree‑of‑difficulty score of 2.00. Macau’s Kuo Chi Hin topped the event with 9.723 points, followed closely by teammate Qi Kuan Song with 9.720 points.
