Rathore and Dravid aim to nurture local talent for a sustainable ETPL

Both Vikram Rathore and Rahul Dravid see the European T20 Premier League as a long‑term project. Their focus is on developing home‑grown players who can eventually compete in larger leagues such as the IPL.

Rathore stressed that the league’s longevity depends on continuous engagement with local athletes throughout the year. “We need a steady training schedule, not just a one‑month sprint, so that players improve and stay motivated,” he explained.

The Guardians currently field six Irish cricketers alongside two players from Scotland and the Netherlands, illustrating a blend of domestic and neighboring talent. Rathore believes this mixture fuels the team’s progress and makes the competition more resilient.

He added that a league heavily reliant on overseas stars often struggles to survive, whereas a locally rooted competition can thrive and become a springboard for European players worldwide.
