In recognition of her stellar performance in the ODI World Cup, Indian wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh has been appointed as a Deputy Superintendent (DSP) in the West Bengal police force. The announcement was made by the West Bengal government on Saturday. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee personally presented Ghosh with her appointment letter at a special felicitation ceremony held at Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens. The event celebrated Ghosh’s remarkable achievements. Alongside the DSP appointment, she was also honored with the prestigious Banga Bhushan award. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) further recognized her contributions by presenting her with a golden bat and ball, along with a cheque of Rs 34 lakhs. This amount was symbolic, reflecting her 34 runs scored in the World Cup final. Former Indian cricket captain and ex-BCCI president Sourav Ganguly was also present, highlighting the significance of Ghosh’s challenging role batting at number six under immense pressure. Both Ganguly and Chief Minister Banerjee expressed confidence in Ghosh’s potential to lead the Indian women’s cricket team as captain in the future. Ghosh shared her personal approach to success, emphasizing target-setting during practice and a love for embracing challenges to secure team victories.
